Dental Care

Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet’s teeth and overall health. Did you know that the bacteria in your pet’s mouth can get into the bloodstream and cause disease in other organs? We recommend yearly dental prophylaxis.

We use a modern and safe ultrasonic cleaner to thoroughly clean each tooth, above and below the gum line. Dental assistants polish teeth to create a smooth tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Veterinarians then examine the mouth. We have dental x-ray available, which will help determine whether a diseased or fractured tooth needs to be removed. Licensed veterinarians perform dental extractions when it is necessary.

We also provide dental care for horses. Your horses teeth grow continuously throughout its life, and due to the side-to-side motion while they chew the outside of the upper teeth and the inside of the lower teeth tend to get sharp points. We recommend yearly exams to determine whether your horse needs a float. Younger horses tend to need them yearly whereas older horses teeth do not grow as quickly and may need them less frequently. We use a power float to remove sharp points and hooks. This allows the horse to better utilize their feed by increasing the effectiveness of chewing and absorption of nutrients.
